Lindy Hingley and her husband John founded Brixham Seawatch in response to their realisation that information about marine life was being lost at sea because it was not being systematically recorded. They were particularly concerned about the large annual losses of cetaceans as ‘bycatch’ of the offshore fishing industry. Lindy received an MBE in early 2001 for her tireless work to gain recognition for the plight of dolphins, whales and their fellow victims.  She explains here what Brixham Seawatch is all about:
